I had no idea what to expect from this - two artists, one Russian, one Swedish, neither of whom I had ever heard of, on a label I had never heard of, but this was mostly a pleasant surprise. Seemingly assembled in collage-like fashion from field recordings, shortwave and synthesisers, the music here is quite diverse and well put-together, not to mention difficult to pigeonhole. Individual tracks may or may not contain: loud electronic pulses, irregular looped rhythms, calm, bell-like drones, murky presences in the background, William Burroughs samples (this really has been done too many times), Conet-project-like radio signals, etc etc. When it works, it works well, but at times things get a little too haphazard and unfocused. The disc is at it's best when it settles into a more droning mode for longer periods of time. With a few tracks trimmed, this could have been a much stronger CD. As it is, it's an interesting but flawed listen, commendable for its ambitions - it may not live up to those ambitions, but the attitude and approach are definitely worthy of support..
